Alberta Regulation for UNLICENSED Care

Maximum 6 Children

Alberta law states that a childcare license is required for any childcare program that cares for more than 6 children. This means that unlicensed childcare providers can care for a maximum of 6 non-custodial children at one time (6 children plus their own). Multiple providers are permitted in one home – but this does not increase the number of children that can be cared for.
