Alberta Regulations for Private Care
Alberta law states that private providers must not care for more than 6 non-biological children at one time. This means the provider can care for 6 children PLUS their own.
Providers are permitted to care for 6 children PER RESIDENCE. Although partnering with another provider is permitted, it does not increase your allowable number of children.
Private providers are required to operate their dayhome from their primary residence. They are not permitted to operate a dayhome from a secondary location.
